چکیده

This paper is an informal history of the birth and growth of network synthesis and filter theory, as it was developed for RLC circuits. It includes events, experiences, and anecdotes which are not all well documented but may make interesting reading. Other papers in this issue are histories of other aspects of circuit theory; for the most part descended from the RLC theory.

Switched Capacitor Filter

A Switched Capacitor circuit is an electronic circuit element used for discrete time signal processing. It works by moving charges into and out of capacitors when switches are opened and closed. Usually, nonoverlapping signals are used to control the switches, so that not all switches are closed simultaneously. Filters implemented with these elements are termed switched capacitor filters. Unlik...

FABRICATION AND MODELING OF PASSIVE COMPONENTS FOR InP-BASED MMICs

Passive components for use in planar Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) based on High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs) on indium phosphide substrates are presented. Design, fabrication, and modeling issues of capacitors, resistors, inductors, transmission lines, via holes, and air bridges have been addressed. Sputtered thin films have been utilized to make metal-insulator-met...

On the internal signature and minimal electric network realizations of reciprocal behaviors

In a recent paper, it was shown that (i) any reciprocal system with a proper transfer function possesses a signaturesymmetric realization in which each state has either even or odd parity; and (ii) any reciprocal and passive behavior can be realized as the driving-point behavior of an electric network comprising resistors, inductors, capacitors and transformers. These results extended classical...

Memristive circuits simulate memcapacitors and meminductors

We suggest electronic circuits with memristors (resistors with memory) that operate as memcapacitors (capacitors with memory) and meminductors (inductors with memory). Using a memristor emulator, the suggested circuits have been built and their operation has been demonstrated, showing a useful and interesting connection between the three memory elements.

From communication networks to fuzzy sets

In 1931 and 1935, Ernst Adolph Guillemin, professor of electrical engineering at Masachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), published the two volumes of his book “Communication Networks”. In that time telephone-, telegraphand radio networks used electricity in communication. In the course of this work electrical engineers become aware that higher mathematics was necessary to construct better c...
